Ramona Louise Anderson, daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Rath) Huisenga, was born on Jan. 11, 1944 in Carroll. Ramona attended country school through the 8th grade and was baptized on April 3, 1955 at the Mission Covenant Church in Odebolt. She had a strong faith and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt.

On Nov. 8, 1960, Ramona married the love of her life, Edward Anderson Jr. in Minnesota. They were blessed with six children and made their loving home in Odebolt. Ramona’s dedication to her family was evident in everything she did; she cherished her family more than anything.

Throughout her life, she worked as a beautician at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab and also took on janitorial duties at the Odebolt State Bank. Ramona approached every job with passion and a strong work ethic. She even excelled as a bean walking foreman, demonstrating her commitment to hard work in all aspects of life. But perhaps, one of Ramona’s greatest joys came from running an in-home daycare. She opened her doors to countless children over the years, providing a nurturing environment where they felt safe and loved. Ramona’s patience and kindness were legendary among parents in the community, who trusted her implicitly with their little ones. Over the years, Ramona left an everlasting impact on the lives of these children.

Ramona enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She loved going to all casinos (one was not enough), where she found excitement in taking chances and trying her luck. In earlier years, she was a league bowling champion, playing cards, Euchre, and Bingo with family members and friends, was a treasured pastime. She had a knack for word searches that kept her mind sharp while providing entertainment. Above all else, Ramona’s caring nature shone through as she dedicated herself to taking care of her family and friends. Ramona’s warmth extended far beyond her hobbies; it encompassed all she did and everyone she knew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Dorothy Huisenga; husband, Edward Anderson Jr.; sister, Roberta Hoefling; sister-in-law, Brenda Huisenga; brothers-in-law: Melvin Langner, Bill Custer, Donald Hoefling, and Ronnie Anderson.

She is survived by her children: Connie Anderson and her significant other Dan Stankoski of Fullerton, Nebraska, Lori and her husband Roman Balogh of Plano, Texas, Scott Anderson of Kiron, Mike Anderson and his wife Michelle of Walford, Iowa, James Anderson and his wife Liz of North Sioux City, and Angela and her husband Curtis Korner of Schleswig; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brothers: Roland Huisenga and his wife Pat of Sibley, Roger Huisenga and his wife Gloria of Odebolt, and Robert Huisenga of Sioux City; sister, Ruby Custer of Soldier; brother-in-law, Charles Anderson of Wall Lake; sister-in-law, Mary Langner of Nemaha, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
